CITY MINIMALISM

Exhibit ‘The future of Self-evolving city’ Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea

A city should be a place for human settlement. To contain people’s variable thoughts, desires and motives, city planning should be minimized, able to be adapted and changeable.

In the city minimalism, we propose the equal human population across the globe. The population density should be minimized just enough to facilitate interactions between people and city elements, such as utilities, transportations and businesses.

In the city minimalism, the city elements are designated and organized by inhabitants as needed, instead of building permanent and gigantic infrastructure for predetermined ideologies or motivations. City elements are designed to be able to change and extend to find again the identity of the city in a context of continuous changes.
