The Northeast Pioneers Greenway is filled with various movements; movements of cars on the roundabout, bicycles and pedestrians along the greenway, grasses blowing in the wind, flying birds above and bugs all throughout.
Seesaw provides a new vertical movement to the site and enriches the existing horizontal movements. This small intervention creates a co-occurrence of events between people sitting on the bench and its surrounding movements.
The gently sloped bench with a vertical movement recalls visitors’ common childhood experience of playing on a seesaw and sensing gravity. Through this familiar event of sitting on the bench, visitors are able to experience and recall special memories and observe the dynamic context of The Great Trail.
